Wuzhen Water Town Experience Tour

In the morning, our guide will pick you up at your own booked hotel in downtown Hangzhou and accompany you to Wuzhen Water Town in about 1.5 hours' driving. Your private Wuzhen tour will begin with the Hundred-Bed Museum, which exhibits nearly 30 ancient wooden beds. You can see luxurious beds of wealthy clans, which have ingenious designs and exquisite carvings, as well as the austere beds of common people.

Afterward, we will move on to the Sanbai Wine Workshop. You can not only admire the architectural style of this ancient wine workshop but also have a taste of the local Sanbai Wine which is brewed in a traditional way. Then you will be guided to the Blue Printed Flower Fabric Workshop to see how to make the well-known exquisite fabric with ancient crafts.

After that, our guide will accompany you to enjoy the Shadow Play. It is a folk play telling stories and legends by manipulating paper-cut figures and animals between the light and a white screen. Lunch will be at your own expense. In the afternoon, you are free to explore Wuzhen Water Town by yourself. At the appointed time, we will drive you back to your hotel in Hangzhou.

Wuzhen is one of the top six water towns south of the Yangtze River, and some people call it the Venice of the East. You can find old buildings situated along the winding river, and various workshops, stores, and museums are the highlights of the romantic and tranquil little town. Located in the north of Tongxiang City, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province, 86 km from Hangzhou (the capital of this region)

The town was established over 1,300 years ago, it's a typical water town of Jiangna Style (Jiangnan: the region south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River). Wuzhen fully preserves the water town's style and pattern in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republican period. Little rivers, houses on the two banks, little bridges connecting streets, stone-paved alleys, all these compose the most typical Jiangnan style water town.

Wuzhen is composed of four parts. The Dongzha (East Area) and Xizha (West Area) are the scenic zones requiring a ticket each or a combined ticket to visit, while the southern part and northern part are the living quarters for the locals.

Best Time to Visit Dongzha: Morning is the most beautiful time of Dongzha. In the morning, the whole river will be surrounded by a thin mist, local people burn the honeycomb briquette for the day, and everything is just like scenery from the tranquil and poetic Chinese painting. A living ancient town will be awakened in front of you.

Best Time to Visit Xizha (West Area): Xizha is suitable to be visited at any time! Except for the day view, the night view here is extremely beautiful. After a delicate arrangement for the lights, the night view is more romantic than the day view, and it's a great time for photography, and many tourists come to Wuzhen just to see the night view of Xizha. Take a rowing boat to travel is a great idea. After the sightseeing, order a drink in the small bars along the river and enjoy leisure time is definitely quite a beautiful time.
